I work out. But I don't consider myself in shape.
I do yoga. But I am in no way, shape, or form a yogi.
I run. But I'm definitely not a runner.
I would like to be all these things (okay, I don't think I'll ever be a hardcore yogi) but it takes more time, dedication, and mental determination than I think I possess.
That may also be a lie. It probably just takes more time, dedication, and mental determination than I want to exert.
Actually that may also be a lie. I was reading in Runner's World (the beginner's section), or maybe it was some other fitness website/ magazine. Anyways, it said that one of the most important qualities that a person has to have in order to be [in this case] a runner is patience.
And I totally believe that. Because...shoot.. I think I want it bad enough.
I've never really been a runner. However, my body is rather runnerish built so people assume that I am or that I'm better than I am. Blame that on my mother and father.
They also think that if they throw a volleyball at me I'll know what to do. I not-so-secretly cringe whenever a volleyball is pulled out because I'm really quite terrible.
Something about my 6 foot tall frame is deceptive to most people who think I'm automatically athletic. I wish that it wasn't deceptive. I wish I was super naturally gifted at something in the athletic field. Not that I'm not athletic at all but I'm definitely not outstanding at anything.
Anyways, I'm trying to be patient whenever I run for 2 miles and am exhausted. And try to remember that last month I would run for 1 mile and be exhausted... but DANG IT.. why is getting in shape such hard work?
And why is it taking me so long?
We have a 4.5 mile run scheduled on Tuesday. Wish me luck.. and grant my husband a healthy dose of patience.
It could take us awhile.
On a far different note.. I won a case of Chobani yogurt from Chobani obviously. But really I entered on aliontherunblog.com. I'm pretty sure that she thinks I'm the worlds dorkiest dork. Because my reply message was something like, "Oh my gosh! This is great!! Thanks so much!!! I love your blog!!!! Be my friend!!!!!" [more exclamation marks!!!!]
Whoops. I just wanted her to know that I was excited. That's all.
I think my luck is returning. One time in college I won 350 dollars CASH in one week. ($200 may have been from pulling off a convincing lip sync performance dressed as a boy.. 6 foot tall girl, with shortish hair, and a rather... straight? body really helps with that). Since then my luck as been rather down.. except for snagging my husband.
The luck is returning just in time for my 3 million dollar Dream House raffle. Awesome!
